Students now have their Spelling City usernames and passwords in the front of their Agendas. They are welcome to go on the site from home for extra practice. I would like the tests to be completed at school. This week we are doing Unit 1.
In Communication Skills were are learning about the most basic of skills, the sentence.
The Reading Power strategy we are working on this week is 'Inferring'. This is the ability to get information from words the author HAS NOT written - kind of reading between the lines. To practice this skill we have been using wordless picture books.
MATH
Last week students completed their first unit test. Students will bring the test home and it return it to school with a parent signature.
Next week we will begin a new unit. We are focusing on place value: ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands. Students will also be given one minute drills in addition and subtraction facts. Math skills can be supported at home by playing cards, dice, and board games. Make Math fun!
