FSAs:
This Monday, we will begin the online portion of the Foundation Assessment Skills test. Grade 4 students
will be tested on Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic (literacy and numeracy). There is also a booklet portion to
this. The tests will take place over the next two weeks. If you would like more information, there is a link on
the Parkcrest website. Due to the fact that all of our computer time will be taken up with testing, I am not
assigning any new units in Spelling City. However, at home students are encouraged to do word practices
with completed units.
LITERACY WEEK:
On Monday, January 27th there will be a book swap. This week students are asked to bring in a maximum
of three of their own books. The literacy teacher, Mrs. Steptoe, is setting up a class by class exchange.
That is, students will be able to trade their old books for different ones.
Music Program: Very soon I will start teaching recorders to my class and Mrs. R's. Students will be
asked to purchase a recorder for about 6.00 each. I know you can get them cheaper at the Dollar Store but
those are not tuned properly and sound really bad. The children are going to learn to read music as they
follow the program. I will send a print notice home re: cost details. Cheers. Ms. S.
