Hello Everyone! This week's blog is a little late - real life does intervene sometimes! We won a 25.00 GC to Chapters for being the 2nd class to hand in all of our office forms! Yay Div. 4!
What a great group of kids this year! In the beginning we work very hard together to create a warm, safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. Currently we are working hard to get classroom assignments completed and to find the best seating arrangements for everyone. Routines are becoming established. All good things take time.
The highlight of our week will be our trip to the salmon run on Wed. I am DESPERATE for parent volunteers to drive out and meet us there. The more the better will help to keep group sizes small and interactive. I have one parent committed so far.
Remember - for the trip:
And now to gym strip. The kids are getting to the age where their bodies are changing, believe it or not :). Bringing deodorant to school to keep in their lockers as well as a change of clothing for gym days is really important. The gym strip can stay at school for a couple of weeks and then go home to be washed. Having gym strip is part of the P.E. mark.
We had our first class meeting today. We all discuss the celebrations and challenges of school life. No names are mentioned and solutions are generated by the kids, empowering them to become problem solvers! Also - it really helps me to keep a finger on the pulse of our classroom culture.
Have a great week. Cheers. Sheila S
